Yes. There have been some things written bordering on this, haven't there? We have trouble getting away from tribalism.

I'm sure there have been. I was applying this theory to the left instead of the right. Usually it's connected to the populist right.

I was thinking of what Haidt and Douthat etc have said about liberalism & democracy not doing well in diversity & being rather unnatural.

I must have read that. Wasn't necessarily thinking of this, but yes. Diversity isn't really natural. Tribalism is part of our nature.

That's what I meant by bordering on your thoughts about freedom getting too much for people. Things go so far & ppl want to reign it in.

Ah, yes. I see. Yet they claim to want to escape oppression. They actually seek to enforce it. Possibly without realising.
