I shld have looked at art more,focused more on the philosophical precursors, looked more at the reaction to Marxism or far-right equivalents

They tend to think that my failure to do this indicates that I don't think those things exist or are relevant or disagree with their view.

I try to point out that I had 3000 words & talked the editor into letting me expand it to 4000 & its just one of many essays & many angles.

When I suggest they write the essay they think I shld have written, they often take offence even when I say I'll probably agree & retweet it

This is how writing works. Lots of ppl write on the same topic from different angles & with different arguments. Often they're complementary

Sometimes they're contradictory. But I do get annoyed at ppl insisting I shld have written abt what they think is the best way to look at it

If they think it could be written "better" but unwilling to do it AND take offense when you suggest it, perhaps they're just trolls?

They seem to read 'Why don't you write that?' as 'Go away. I'm not interested.My work is perfect & complete. How dare you!'
