In cases like this, you can hold two possibilities & say 'I don't know.' That is a coherent & single position.https://twitter.com/christianjbdev/status/857987418976399360 …

It can be. Useful to be able to handle mutually contradictory ideas - cos you often can't be sure which is true.

That's just about conf. bias. We shld try to avoid this but in order to change mind when warranted. Not to believe contradictory things

By 'rejecting contradictory information' I mean recognising that they can't both be true & wanting to discover which one is true.

Of course - but big problem when people feel something can't be true because it contradicts everything else they believe to be true.

Because it's often the case that the things you believe to be true actually aren't.

Absolutely but whilst a refusal to live with contradictions cld motivate ppl to dismiss info they don't like, its also only way to truth.

If we accept that the world is 4.5 billion years old and 6,000 yrs old, we can't get anywhere. What's important is how we evaluate claims.

Dogmatism would be asserting that one is correct & rejecting other. Evaluating both & coming to provisional conclusion isn't that tho.
