A better question is 'Isn't it better to endure being bored at times in order to achieve a more enjoyable life overall.' Yes, it is.

Anyway, the psychologist helping me with my sleep problem has helped me. The problem is very simply an intolerance of boredom.

It's simply that I find discussing, reading, listening to interesting things more enjoyable than lying down with my eyes closed.

And so I do that until I simply can't keep my eyes open any more even tho I will enjoy the next day way less coz I'm so tired. Which is nuts

So essentially, I'm like a toddler who won't give in to sleep because there's too much interesting stuff going on & sleep is boring.

In the absence of a responsible adult to put me in my bed, remove all distractions & ignore my protests, I'll have to develop self-discipline

But it seems I do go to great lengths to avoid being bored including avoiding people so maybe the question isn't such a silly one.

Seems the secret to being more sociable, sleeping better & being generally more productive is learning to tolerate boredom. Bugger.

I can be very sociable & use my mind. Find some friends who enjoy a good thought excersize. Sleep is also good for the mind.

I have zero friends interested in politics, gender, religion etc. My interests are very limited & very intense. Why Twitter is a godsend.

Lovely! I have some shared interests with my friends but only for so long. After a couple of hours, I get restless.

Understandable. Will doesn't like these conversations too much. So I need her in my life. Still. I do like moments where I can't think.

To feel a different kind of tired. Satisfying sometimes. At least, to me.
