So frustrating! Pls assume that someone who is arguing that a different approach to the problem will work better sees that there's a problem
Not letting trans women identify as women? Yes, it is. If by transphobic, we mean discriminating against trans people.

Show me where it's a constitutionally protected right to ID as the opposite sex. I'll wait.
-
Sorry? I haven't claimed that it is & I'm not sure which constitution you're talking about. Laws vary. I'm talking abt values not laws.
-
I think same sex couples should be able to marry. If I say this, I'm not claiming they can marry under the laws of every country.
-
I think they should as well. Harms no one and expands the catalogue of rights. All good.
-
But you see how you can say something should be a right without claiming it is a right everywhere?
-
Of course. And when you have competing rights, they need to be weighed. Sex is a human right, rape is not (women have a right not to be).
-
Then oppose rape! Who doesn't?
-
Ugh, you'd be surprised. But yeah, that's the point: sometimes fighting for some rights involves limiting others. Happens a lot, actually.

Trans "rights" lead to absurd miscarriages of justice like this: http://www.slate.com/blogs/xx_factor/2015/02/04/angela_ames_sex_discrimination_case_breast_feeding_mom_loses_because_men.html …
-
Well, that's just nonsense. Not trans women's fault! Men can lactate whether we recognise trans identity or not.
-
If sex-based protections of women's rights are jeopardized due to redefining "men" and "women" on basis of trans agenda, it's problematic.
-
Then oppose the loss of those rights rather than trans women's identity. Its that that's the problem not calling trans women, women.
-
If there were an additional class of transwomen and transmen that kept intact sex-based legal class of women, yeah, no problem.
-
Or just oppose injustices that come up. Don't need to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
-
Which is why trans people will eventually have to have their own legal class in order not to lead to absurd results.
-
Their own sports, yes. Their own bathrooms, maybe. In most scenarios, no.

We definitely disagree. Letting TW identify as women leads to discrimination against the latter, which is misogynist.
-
How am I discriminated against by trans women also being called women? Sounds like straight ppl saying same sex marriage devalues theirs.
-
Just replied to that. Trans rights infringe on women's rights. If they didn't, I'd agree with you (I'm pro-gay marriage).
-
I don't see any way they do. If someone tries to make them, oppose that rather than trans women's identity. Writing a thing about this.
