I don't understand the POV, 'I'm going to oppose Muslim reformers coz most Muslims aren't reformers.' Why not support the ones who are?

I think it's just a defensive reaction in case people see the existence of Muslim reformers & liberals as evidence that the problem is over.

Otherwise doesn't make sense to respond to: "Here are Muslim reformers doing good things." With "Here is an oppressive Islamic theocracy."

But, in reality, we can support Muslim reformers & liberals whilst recognising the scale of the problem with Islam.

True. It's less about supporting "where they stand" as supporting their "direction of travel".
