Very interesting piece by @saerahwrites. We must be able to acknowledge that source of Islamism is Islam & support reformers & liberals.https://twitter.com/areomagazine/status/856867223205531648 …

Not a huge ethical difference between forcing it on your family vs your society but a big difference for the society.
-
In the same way that a fundamentalist Christian might terrorise his family & hold horrible views is different to a Christian dominionist.
-
This is not an attempt to soften the problem or remove it from Islam but sometimes we need to talk abt different ways problems manifest.

I would apply this to Tim Farron as well.
-
I just wrote a piece on that!
-
That's amazing.

Yes but as soon as I submitted it, he said that gay sex was not a sin so now I have to rewrite it.

Well the point is still valid.

There are no majority Muslim countries that do not exercise restrictions against secular/other religious ideas. 1/2
-
2/2 as soon as a significant minority of Muslims exists, they start pressing for 'accommodations' and restrictions. Reform unlikely.

Support it even on a small scale. Nothing to lose by doing so. Even if you're not an atheist, half of this applies. http://helenpluckroseblogs.blogspot.co.uk/2016/06/why-atheists-should-support-muslim.html …

I totally agree. Not optimistic, but agree.
