There's no hierarchy of pain suffered from exposure to different ideas; it's totally subjective. That's why harm doesn't extend to speech.

Of course, I agree. Did you think I didn't?
-
'Dehumanised & erased metaphorically by ppl having different ideas' would be subjective so no different to 'just disagreed with'
-
That is essentially my point, yes.
-
I am saying that no matter what it feels like, you're just being disagreed with.
-
Ah, it reads like being 'just simply' disagreed with is somehow a less painful experience. Anyway, it sounds like we're on the same page.

People feel isolated/excluded through others' use of language. It's ok to validate that, w/o necessarily agreeing w their proposed solution.
-
Would you be sympathetic to both sides - trans activists & radfem - feeling invalidated as women coz of speech of the other?
-
I'm more sympathetic to trans women, tbh, but I'm not very sympathetic to hyperbolic demands that people stop saying or start saying things.
-
Yes and yes. One can invoke Canute, I suppose. Some such demands are (rightly and wrongly) acceded to, which feeds entitlement.

The use of metaphors is excluding and erasing literal minded people and is therefore an ablist reproduction of neurotypical supremacy!
-
Go and sit in the corner and think about what you just did.
