You need *something* to let it dump the data up to their servers. but looks like you can do through a computer.

It says so but on reviews it says this doesn't really work. I do have an iphone. It just doesn't work as a phone. Ipad no good?

iPad would be fine, and iPhone would be fine so long as it can install the app and talk to the internet. It's literally a relay.
