A day or two ago, I saw someone say to Matt Dillahunty (I think) that if he saw someone punching a Nazi, he wouldn't criticise them for it.

Because he wouldn't want to be thought sympathetic to the Nazi & the people whose rights you champion is revealing of your aims.

I have no intention of discussing the ethics of Nazi-punching any further. The arguments have all been made & if still not getting it...

But the thinking & motivations which underlie the conflict on this & so many other similar examples is particularly interesting.

A fatal disconnect. I cldn't have disagreed more with that person coz I think strengthening your own position is the most important thing.

I don't think it's enough to show the other side to be bad (especially if you're doing so dishonestly).Need to show your own side to be good

Yes. I'm not sure how to evaluate him. I admit I'm not watching his stuff partly because people are polarising around him.

People can get too 'anti-SJW' to the point where they are rationalising genuine bigotry alongside critiquing dubious accusations of it.

I don't know if Rubin does that & I'm not interested in critiquing individuals as much as ideas & talking about getting the balance right.
