Helen my own theory is there's another layer to all this beyond moral foundations we haven't really touched on. I call it cognitive style.

It seems to me that cognitive style overlays moral foundations. The styles are Platonic Idealism and Aristotelian Empiricism.

Both styles can be seen on the left AND on the right, but idealism is more prevalent on the left.

It's when the idealism combines with the three, or one, foundation morality when the biggest troubles ensue.

I've never had a bad experience, or a bad conversation, with an Aristotelian leftist. I've always found conversing with them enjoyable.

I think you are an Aristotelian leftist. Even if we come from different moral matrices we can still converse on the same plane.

I don't think we are on the same plane. You seem to have utter ideological certainty to me. To be an idealist, in fact.

It's not Ideological certainty. It's science. There's a difference. I'm only describing current social science.

In Haidt's next book he separates the two ideological viewpoints on capitalism from the empirical evidence about it. http://storiesaboutcapitalism.com

Haven't read that one. Do liberals have a view on capitalism? That's a different dimension of left & right.
