Helen my own theory is there's another layer to all this beyond moral foundations we haven't really touched on. I call it cognitive style.

It seems to me that cognitive style overlays moral foundations. The styles are Platonic Idealism and Aristotelian Empiricism.

Both styles can be seen on the left AND on the right, but idealism is more prevalent on the left.

Really? Conservatives seem highly idealist to me. America seems much idealistic that UK largely because of the conservative flavour.
