Very many religious, philosophical & ethical worldviews include a belief that it is morally acceptable to lie for your own safety. https://twitter.com/rugliabeoulve2/status/852526449303076864 …

If you hide your religious belief from ISIS to save your life that's taqiyya, would these people condemn these practitioners of taqiyya?

The ppl who bring up taqiyya are saying muslims can not be secular, just like the mullahs. Attacks on us continue from all sides unabated. 😧

From my position that seems like a distinction without a difference. Someone accuses me if being a closet islamist I can't defend myself.

Most people who bring up taqiyya are saying we can't trust Muslims because they have this thing called taqiyya so they're obligated to lie.

They don't know what it means and they think their misunderstanding of it is common & foundational to Islam.

It certainly wouldn't cover saying an idea contrary to religious tenets was morally acceptable in a context in which you can say 'no' safely

Jews have similar rule. It was deemed theologically OK for them to claim to be Christian &eat pork to 'prove' it when asked by an Inquisitor

It was deemed more of a sin to die unnecessarily (akin to suicide) than to conceal faith & live. Christian theology very different - Peter.
