Sometimes ppl tell me it's naive & idealistic to talk abt concepts like truth, freedom, justice in the abstract coz complicated in practice
-
-
Obviously, principles are worthless without practical application but activism based on fuzzy & ill-defined principles is counterproductive
-
So I think claiming to stand for justice does require you to have given a lot of thought to ur concept of justice & be able to argue for it
-
Therefore I defend talking about values in the abstract too even if you cannot straightforwardly apply them to every problem & solve it.
-
There does need to be thinking as well as acting & ideally the thinking comes first.
-
So, I have some essays coming up abt liberal values & how to apply them to certain issues & 'I don't know' features quite a lot.
