Zen Buddhism came from China, where it's known as Chan, a combination of dhyana and Daoism. It also spread to Korea and Vietnam.
Oh, well that explains it then. I think the Japanese appropriated it & renamed it 'Zen' but I don't care enough to verify. You're not it.
