Europe had a long science-dry spell between Greek/Roman advances & European ones. Fortunately Muslim world kept it alive.

But not by practicising Islam, obv. By practicing science. The Golden Age is overhyped but did exist & was related to empire & stability.

This causes religiosity to wane & science to thrive. Some postmodernists wld take us back to pre-modern times but I don't think they'll win.
