Apparently, I got the problem right -postmodernism - but the solution wrong. Not liberalism but religion we need.

It assumes that moral rules came from God-belief until abt 1960s tho when, in fact, they've been secular for centuries.

Postmodernism challenged classical liberal ethics, not religious ones. PoMo has much in common with religion & probably calls to same needs.

Most moral rules still largely stand, but the 60's did introduce new challenges, not all of which many would consider helpful in hindsight.
-
Of course but I'd suggest that challenging religion was less of a problem than challenging reality, liberalism & reason.
-
Setting aside your views on atheism, would having a Christian faith significantly interfere or change your views on liberalism & reason?
-
Of course it did. I went on faith then. I wasn't using reason when it came to religion. Also tried to reconcile opposition to homosexuality
-
Yes, I can see that. There are many 'red lines' that liberals balk at, but also many shared values of tolerance, acceptance & forgiveness
