aren't there gradations of truth or transcendent truths that do not easily fall into such a binary?

i'm just playing devil's advocate

Can you give an example of something being both or neither true or untrue?
-
ex. is smoking immoral? it could be either immoral or moral depending on circumstances, hence true or untrue to say its immoral.../1
-
That's not reality. It's opinion. That is genuinely subjective. The truth claim wld be that cigarettes both do & do not exist.
-
really? i don't think i follow. seems to me that example would be based on a set of truth claims,.../1
-
Yes, there are truths to call on to form moral evaluations but they themselves are then subjective.
-
is allowing husbands to beat wives a subjective moral evaluation? can you objectively say its wrong? at what point can you ?
-
We need to set a premise that harming human beings is generally wrong. Doesn't exist objectively. Universe doesn't care.

i agree with you (for the record) with what you're saying about 'personal realities', i'm just tossing around the idea out loud...
-
I think it needs examples or it's much the same as saying 'what if dogs were really cats?'
