There is a positive minefield around asking women their opinion or to further explain an idea of theirs which is harmful.

Well, maybe not common, but I see it a lot. 'I'm not here to educate you' 'pay me for my time' 'I'm not your google' https://twitter.com/Enceladosaurus/status/848504669156540417 …

I think this is a terrible attitude which, if taken to heart, only removes women from the conversation.
-
Its one thing to be too busy to respond or to feel that someone lacks basic information that cannot be explained simply.
-
In those situations, its easy to say that and refer people to sources politely. Even ignoring is better than 'How dare you ask me questions'

Haha, no win situation there. Honestly, gender did not even really occur to me in our recent discussion. Sometimes it's just not relevant.
-
Good! Most of the time it isn't. But I saw a very uncharitable attack on a man for asking a woman to clarify & provide evidence earlier.
-
.If your thinking is clear & based on evidence, being asked to explain former & provide latter is a welcome opportunity to convince.
-
And an opportunity to learn. You’re a woman, so what. Gender is used where it is not helpful. Not to belittle real problems btw.
-
Quite. It does undermine support for real problems when everything is problematic tho.
