Anyone out there know how to read Koine Greek? Maybe @HPluckrose
Afraid not. Latin, Middle English and a little French is the extent of my linguistic capabilities.

Well I'm going to try to tackle it. I'm in process of getting a Koine Greek New Testament. It can be a lifelong project.
-
Oh yes! Medievalists are encouraged to read Greek but it takes several years. Latin, Middle English & Anglo-Norman are essential.
-
I'm finding that you can learn enough to read the NT. This is the one recommended to me: https://www.amazon.com/Greek-Testament-FL-German-Bible-Society/dp/1619701391 …

Yes. absolutely. 7 years is the norm for proficiency inLatin, Greek, Anglo-Norman, Middle English and palaography
-
Well, if I can do a bit each day, maybe I can get it by retirement. It would be quite the achievement to read the NT in original
-
If you are only focusing on Greek and you put in a couple of hours a day, you'll be able to do it within a couple of years.

Once the alphabet and grammar is in place, you'll be good to go with the help of a dictionary. And it will be very rewarding!

If I enjoy this lesson, I may branch into Latin, etc, like you. Also considering Hebrew.
