People are so confused about choice & ethics. Something being a choice does not, in itself, tell us whether its a good or bad one ethically
The logic remains the same. Something being a choice doesn't mean its a bad choice or a good one.

The freedom to choose is one ethical issue and I support it but its not the only one. After that, we can evaluate the choice.
-
Some ppl seem to think that 'It's a choice' is the whole story & to say a choice is a bad one is the same as denying the right to it

yep, agree. Wonder if people are arguing different points tho. ie: bad choice but the freedom to make it overrides that..
-
No. That is reasonable. I agree with that. Talking abt ppl who respond 'but it;s their choice!' as tho that settles whole issue.
-
Gender-specific ideas of modesty are sexist & restrictive. No, theyre not! Women choose it! Huh?
-
but the intersection is choice is in itself unrepressive. To then choose repression? Agree tho understand why ppl don't seperate
-
Ppl have the right to be socially conservative. They can make that choice. I can still criticise socially conservative values.

Equally, I cld support a gay man's right to choose celibacy due to religious belief but criticise idea gay men need to be celibate.

(to me) that's the cornerstone of critical thinking. The positively of the road does not in itself make the destination good..
-
I don't know what you mean.
