Aside from the slut-shaming element of 'modest fashion', I am at a loss to understand how it works logically.

Do we all agree that 'modest' means to be unassuming, unostentatious,to downplay one's merits, skills, charms?

The head is already covered by hair. The body is already covered by skin. These are usually dull & plain in shades of brown, beige, yellow.

How is covering these in bright colours and bling as 'modest fashion' does unassuming, unostentation & downplaying?https://twitter.com/IFDC_/status/836612175552630784 …

I don't think there's anything wrong with dramatic, showy & eye-catching fashion. I was a goth, ffs, but I can't see anything modest abt it.

it's my understanding that your use of "modest" is uncommon now; now it means "covering body parts seen as sexual in any way"
