This poll is useless for actually establishing majority views but it is quite interesting for other reasons.https://twitter.com/EveKeneinan/status/837594847708131328 …

Because of a respect for the right of other views to exist &a wish to end one form of suffering in this world. I wld not have voted this way
-
When I believed in a literal hell for non-believers, I wld have rationalised that this is way worse than cancer which is temporary suffering
-
Ppl arguing underneath that religious ppl who'd eradicate atheism wld rather let thousands die than be disagreed with aren't seeing this.
-
The problem with religion is not primarily authoritarianism & demands for conformity but a fatally skewed compassion due to false beliefs.
-
Which leads to authoritarianism & demands for conformity, obviously. But not always. The not always ppl are interesting.
-
They either don't believe in Hell, don't believe non-believers go there or don't believe eternal torture is worse than cancer & eternal life
-
Or they want non-believers to suffer horribly for all eternity, obviously. But most believers are not sadistic psychopaths.

I'm a Catholic & don't understand why there would be a choice. People can believe what they like but cancer knows no boundaries.
-
The choice is hypothetical. Ppl can have different beliefs but Christians often believe there are huge consequences for this.
