Obviously non-believers would rather get rid of cancer than non-belief but I suspect many religious ppl would also eradicate cancer.

-
Because of a respect for the right of other views to exist &a wish to end one form of suffering in this world. I wld not have voted this way
-
When I believed in a literal hell for non-believers, I wld have rationalised that this is way worse than cancer which is temporary suffering
-
Ppl arguing underneath that religious ppl who'd eradicate atheism wld rather let thousands die than be disagreed with aren't seeing this.
-
The problem with religion is not primarily authoritarianism & demands for conformity but a fatally skewed compassion due to false beliefs.
-
Which leads to authoritarianism & demands for conformity, obviously. But not always. The not always ppl are interesting.
-
They either don't believe in Hell, don't believe non-believers go there or don't believe eternal torture is worse than cancer & eternal life
-
Or they want non-believers to suffer horribly for all eternity, obviously. But most believers are not sadistic psychopaths.

but people that don't have the same religious beliefs as me are worse than cancer and should be eradicated... Sounds familiar.
-
That could be a strawman tho. Look at rest of the thread & tell me what you think?
-
For a believer, the options cld be 'eradicate temporary suffering followed by eternal life' or 'eradicate eternal suffering.'
-
I agree.
-
I think sometimes ppl fail to understand the power of beliefs taken to logical conclusions. Sometimes those people are religious.
-
humans are capable of doing grate or terrible things for ideological reasons either religious or utopian beliefs.
-
So you're less concerned w/ what is true as how ppl behave? I am concerned w/ both but accept its only the latter I have a say in
-
to an extent. We have proof the world is spherical. There really +/- evidence of some deity though I strongly suspect none.

It was nice knowing you! (I kid .... Cancer obviously)
-
But do you believe in Hell? Jews are often very vague on Hell but never heard one say non-believers go there.
-
Yes. We all go to hell. Even me! And you. It's a purgatory kind of place where you face up to your sins and repent.
-
But Judaism places little emphasis on the afterlife. It's about affecting the world here. Not worrying about the next world.
-
Hell is also. A temporary place. Apparently the maximum term is 12 months. And that's for the worst offenders.
-
Jewish Hell is better than Christian or Muslim Hell then. Must be directly linked to evangelism & lack of.
-
Possibly. Its just about purifying the soul making it ready for heaven. Not eternal. Yes. Anyone can get into heaven.
-
Judaism is exclusive religion but not exclusive afterlife. Christianity / Islam non-exclusive religion but exclusive afterlife
