I wouldn't like to say whether men or women face greater disadvantages on the grounds of their sex but this isn't being evasive.

But so much now comes down to gendered expectations & there its so often two sides of the same coin.

Are men privileged by the fact society does not expect them to give up work, reduce hrs or become less reliable after kids or disadvantaged?

This entirely depends on whether a man wants to keep focusing on career after becoming father or wld like a better work/life balance.

If he is, great. If a partner wants more work/life balance, perfect. If a man wants to help raise his kids & a woman focus on career -harder

But we have a society in which we have the right to defy gendered expectations & this is probably the best way to defeat them.
