It can be frightening to think abt how many people subscribe to a belief system which includes the eternal torture of ppl with diff beliefs.

The sheer number of times Christians use Hitler as the epitome of evil shows they cannot be morally committed to the Hell idea.
-
Some apologists will make arguments about it being humans who send themselves there by not believing the right things.
-
Others will say the difference is that Hitler was a human & God is God - the most morally relativist argument I've ever heard.
-
But mostly, when Christians think of God, they think goodness & love, rather than eternally torturing ppl who disagree with you.
-
This doesn't mean we shouldn't point out that this horrible idea exists & is horrible & that others fully believe in it & justify it.
-
Or that fear of Hell & the hatred of people believed to be drawing ppl into it isn't responsible for the murder of apostates & blasphemers
-
Or a general distrust of & discrimination against people with different religions or no religion.
-
But arguments that religious ppl (I'm talking mostly abt Christians) support the idea or torture for wrongthink, don't really work.
