It's no good to accuse people of racism or sexism if they weren't thinking of race or sex at all when making the decision you're criticising

If opposing racism & sexism etc is your raison d'etre, it's easy to forget that other people may give very little thought to these issues.

You can respond that they should & that it's their privilege that allows them not to think about these issues but that's unlikely to help.
