I think it was more the vilification of Trump voters & tendency of liberals (my side) to insistence on complete agreement.

To be clear, I don't find the article absurd like he did. I consider T voters absurd, but I think the NYT piece is accurate.

Basic psychology. Vilifying ppl for a decision makes it harder for them to admit or even recognise it was bad one.
