I don't think collective blame is helpful or just whether it's an immutable characteristic or a religion/ideology ppl are categorised by.

-
However, we can reasonably challenge ppl on their ideology & be expected to have some concern for how our own is being manifested.
-
It is never reasonable to blame someone for their gender, race or sexuality & until recently, it seemed we'd fought that fight & won.
-
I'm not sure how much good it does to keep pointing this out as it's unlikely to suddenly become clear to people it's not already clear to.
-
But it feels it would be worse to stop pointing it out & just accept that 'liberals' do this now.

if you know, can you explain where LaClau and Mouffe fit in to all of this?
-
In discourses on gender and religion? I'm afraid I don't know.
-
To my knowledge, they are part of the earlier deconstructionist phase of postmodernism before the shift into identity politics
-
But I really only know them as names related to Saussurean, Derridean & Lacanian ideas so I'll not be much help.

it's like people can selectively apply principles to conform whatever into their narrative. This can't be happening
