I support Christians who find their freedom of speech limited in UK universities but appreciate it when they recognise it's not just them.

Keep seeing things about Christians being oppressed by rules banning certain speech about sexuality & gender identity.

I disagree strongly with what they want to say about this but also with stopping them from doing so.

Their framing is hard to sympathise with. Not 'We must be allowed to speak coz freedom matters' but ' coz our views are a matter of faith'

That doesn't work coz the ppl trying to stop you speaking are also motivated by deeply held beliefs they consider 'sacred.'

Then the only argument you're left with is 'my beliefs in God are better than your beliefs in LGBT equality' & that won't wash in the UK.

Much better strategically to support freedom of speech for everyone than 'Christians are so oppressed' in country with it as state religion.

Obviously, this is much better ethically as far as I'm concerned too but thought I'd point out the foot-shooting.

Please notice this censoriousness is affecting everyone &care abt them too rather than claiming unique oppression & saying Jesus foretold it

Thank you for speaking out about this. Thank you for your insight behind the phrasing of these cries for freedom. Enlightening.

I despise virtually every flavour of Christianity so I often see red when it comes to "Xtian persecution". Helped me empathise.

And the places where it *would* wash are likely not places those making the argument would wish to live.
