In order to correct bad behavior of religious origin you need to challenge the reliability of the texts themselves.

I think that it's a necessary passage. It doesn't mean forcing people to leave their culture/religion, but allowing criticism.

I get it. The aim is get religious people to be open to criticism from within and without, not to promote atheism as identity.

That's one important aim. Another is actually addressing what they mean by God and how these needs can be otherwise supplied.
