They might not realise that if you take 'God' out of your head (or never had him there) those same moral evaluations still happen.

When you were talking to "God", do you think that was you rationalizing your inner monologue in some way or different voice?

I made the voice of my conscience 'God' so I see why others who do the same could think 'no God, no conscience.'

I've never believed so I find this really hard to relate to. But it does makes sense.
