Freedom of speech principles came about because we all hate some ideas. Point is, you can still hate them. Just don't stop or punish them.

We really have regressed if we're having to explain this basic principle & why ' but the ideas are really really awful' doesn't nullify it.
-
Isn't it really more a question of where to draw the line between protected speech and incitement?
-
No. No-one is defending the right to incite violence. That right doesn't exist.
-
It seemed to me you were saying that no idea is ever so awful that it shouldn't be protected.
-
All ideas can be expressed, yes. That doesn't include plotting any harmful action or inciting any harmful action.
-
Wouldn't you say that some hate speech would have to be considered incitement, though?
-
Yes, when it incites.

It's not. People aren't that dumb. They just pretend to be to try and stop their own views being criticized.
-
They really don't get it. Genuinely think defending the right to speak implies defending the speech.
-
Oh I think we're talking freely about two different things here

@nr1woman saying you hate x and wish it wasn't there is free speech! Posting a reward to kill x b/c you hate them is a crime! - End of conversation
