question: What was wrong with heterosexual?
-
-
-
Nothing at all.
-
Why use cis? Why not just hetero?
-
Because they mean different things. I'm cis but not heterosexual.
-
I am so confused. Really, I am lost in sexual preference/identity definitions. I plead ignorance.
-
Cis just means you feel like the sex your gonads say you are. Some ppl don't & neuroscience provides an explanation.
-
Hetero & homo describe attraction to opposite sex or same sex. Most gay men still feel like men & lesbians feel like women.

Some people consider being categorised relative to something that they consider an aboration to be unacceptable.
-
I know. Not much sympathy for them.

It's so often been used as a slur, probably too late to try to change the connotation now.

Yep. That term is noxious as far as I'm concerned. I will likely never use that neologism to describe myself.
