I can't help but feel sorry for Melania Trump. She just looks so awkward, anxious & overwhelmed at every public event & I can sympathise.

If the ideal president has a husband or wife w/ successful career of their own & no interest in a public political role, is this a problem?
-
Wld it be 'look, I know you're an eminent neuroscientist but ur wife/husband is president so put it away, look pretty, say inspiring things?
-
Because it is essentially a supportive, social, appearances role. Must wannabe presidents avoid marrying introverts with own interests?

Hilary Clinton co-chaired the (albeit doomed) Healthcare reform commission & Michelle Obama was also active policy wise
-
OK, great. We certainly know Hillary was politically ambitious. But if they weren't? If they had their own lives?
-
Michelle Obama had her own life, she was a successful hospital administrator. Now she's talked of as a potential POTUS.
-
But she was happy to give it up and be Flotus, wasn't she. What if she wasn't political at all & wanted to carry on in hospital?
-
It's a good question - maybe someday we will see a partner of the POTUS who takes that position.
