Good! I'm glad we agree. Arbitrarily, no. We have various options to choose from depending where we live.
In this sense, meaning is subjective. The meaning of my life - family, history - is different to my friend's - travel, physics.
-
-
Therefore, when someone says 'we make our own meaning in life', they mean they choose the purpose of their own life.
-
They do not mean anything else - eg I create reality with my mind, everything is equally valuable, no-one else shares my purpose
-
This temporary, small, local meaning seems unsatisfying to ppl who want a larger, grander, eternal, divine meaning. That's OK.
-
However, when ppl who do not believe in a divine purpose to life speak of the meaning of life, usually mean individual purpose.
-
Individual purpose is subjective in the sense that people are subjects & pick different purposes. The end.

That doesn't make it subjective. That's what I've been trying to tell you. Stop abusing the language.
-
Oh go away, you silly man. That is exactly what subjective means. You are boring me, now.
