Been concerned abt ppl making mental illness into a marginalised identity to compete in intersectional terms
It's what I see a lot of in universities. Students believing themselves to be suffering a MI.

Seeking support & mental health services when they're just having normal difficult emotions.

Admin tells me students demanding extensions & even passes due to normal stresses of uni life.

Feeling unsettled & homesick becomes an anxiety disorder requiring allowances.

A break-up resulting in sadness & loss becomes clinical depression requiring allowances.

V difficult for them coz some percentage really do have these problems & require allowances.

But students w/ clinical diagnoses find all the self-diagnosed students very hard to cope with
