This is the problem. Ppl voting on big, noble themes like sovereignty & not understanding all the EU does.
I'm not arguing that leavers are pointless idiots. I'm arguing that grand themes with understanding or plans no good

A lot of the remain motivation was equally tribal & one grand theme of globalism & because-im-not-a-racist.
-
I'm arguing against the anti-experts with grand themes who have not thought things thru & have no plan.
-
BTW, I’m with you entirely on the ‘expert’ thing. Anti-intellectualism exists, but isn’t much help here.
-
Its a major causal factor. Disregarding experts. Populism.
-
I mean helpful to resolving the referendum issues, not ‘helpful to your point/argument’. :-)
-
I see. I went with experts in the end coz simply couldn't evaluate it all.
-
I get that. I think some went against the experts because the experts were telling them their issues weren’t real.
-
Yes, it is an emotional thing. My mum & dad voted leave. It was all abt nostalgia for a past that is gone.

Sure, but the referendum was one question, two possible answers. What can you expect from that?
-
The Leavers should not be expected to have any sort of plan or other unity based on that vote.
-
What? Yes, they should! Don't vote to leave in a binding referendum unless you've seen a workable non-disastrous plan
-
The vote was Stay or Leave, there were no plans mentioned in the referendum either way.
-
But you don't vote stay or leave without considering the consequences. This is my problem. Ppl voted on big themes.
-
I think we actually agree almost entirely here. Yes, they did. They weren’t given much else to go by.
-
This is why referenda on complex issues don't work. They're for things like: should we change our national anthem
-
Things where what we *want* to find out is ppls sentiments.
