Even the most devout defender of religious faith will want evidence that their child has done her homework.

A sceptic is someone who tries to think consistently in terms of evidence & probability & provisional hypotheses & usually does.

But might sometimes fail. Eg, I might really want to believe my child innocent of a crime despite all evidence she was guilty.

Its natural to us to require evidence for almost everything & learn from it. Its also natural to believe some things without.
