I know that tribalism is deeply embedded in us but I think it's this, more than unconscious racism/sexism, we need to work on confronting.

This would obviously result in becoming aware of unconscious racial and gender biases we might have as well as many others.

I feel the pull of tribalism very strongly. I find myself making the most charitable interps of ppl I like & uncharitable 1s of ppl I don't

This leads me to try to be charitable to everyone. Then I get called gullible & naive. I don't know the solution to this.

I know we have bias and is a good thing to be aware of this. But we also have our basic instincts and shouldn't forget it's use

There is some use in surrounding ourselves with like-minded people. Not necessesarely on issues, but on the way we discuss them

You can't please them all & sometimes we need to protect our minds from this. This is a small case for tribalism, I'm aware.

I think being aware how biased we really are is helpful but shouldn't stop us forming provisional judgements.
