The paradox.Forcing ppl to stop forcing their beliefs on others.Liberalism cant survive if it tolerates illiberalism https://twitter.com/aoksimpson/status/820347312975343619 …
That's the paradox. The only way to prevent ppl from forcing their views on others is by force. Prosecuting them.

The only alternative is to say 'everyone is allowed to live as they wish including making others live as they say'. Doesn't work
-
Have to agree You can live as a far-right religious conservative & I can live as a far-left atheist & we leave each other alone.
-
In this way liberalism is a compromise enabling ppl to live together rather than a position in itself.
-
Not that the conservatives opposed by the liberals in sense of right vs left. The left can't impose its values on right either.

so then liberalism isn't really liberal at all. It depends on if more people benefit than don't. And screw the ones that don't
-
Its a system in which ppl can apply own values to own life & let others do the same. Yes, screw those who'd impose on others.
-
If you can't live according to your own beliefs w/out forcing others to do the same, you will be removed from a liberal society
-
but you are forcing others to do the same by imposing liberalism. And how would you recommend removing them?
-
No, I'm not. The same system constrains me from forcing my beliefs on others & entitles me to apply them only to my own life.
