I think many men assume the "Women's March" is supposed to be women-only, which is why it was a bad name for the main anti-Trump march. https://twitter.com/feministabulous/status/819305982866165762 …

ok, you already said that.
-
Yes, it's my only point here. It's a very simple one but you seem to want to find nefarious motives.
-
Nope, I see you care about equality so Im curious why you don't question those claiming a name as an excuse to not participate
-
I would question ppl saying 'It says women so I'm not coming even tho I know I can.' That's not what Chait said or I thought.
-
I think men who absolutely would come if they knew they could are *genuinely* taking the name of the march at face value.
-
I have read several articles about this march and never once got an indication that men could attend too.
-
So I'm suggesting being charitable & reading the low projected male turn-out as confusion rather than indifference.

I thought it was a march FOR women?
-
Yes but ppl are confused abt in what sense. Like a shelter or group for women? Or on behalf of women, open to all.
-
As in "in support of"
-
It seems most ppl think it does mean that. Men are welcome.
-
Any confusion is easily clarified. Yet many seemed quick to take it as anti-men, perhaps because they want to de-legitimize feminism.
-
Ppl taking offence at the name are very different to ppl sincerely thinking its a space for women.
-
I think there's a strong possibility of overlap between the two sets.
-
Possibly. However, lets not assume that. I assure you I made a simple error. I've no problem with a march for women.

Concrete thinking people.
-
Yes. We have to be most of the time to function. Words must have meanings. 'Women' must mean 'not men.'
-
No. women must mean women. But when march is added to anything, it's often a rights issue. Rights can always be supported by all
-
That's not at all clear. March for Women's Rights would be. I assumed it was a space for women
-
It's as unclear as one chooses to make it.
-
No, I don't think so. People will read things literally. This is what we do most of the time. No bad motivation.
-
All you are telling me is that indeed some people aren't bright.
-
That's uncharitable. Just be clearer if you want more people to understand. Don't if you're not bothered one way or the other.
