It is exactly like multi-page click-bait psychology. I think if I click 1 more page/respond to 1 more tweet, something worthwhile will appear
-
I know I've said this before but I keep hoping one of you will have a solution to it. I just don't know how to fix it.
-
With your hermeneutical help desk, you're very generous
@HPluckrose. If it tires you, you could always set the agenda with long-form pieces. -
Well, your long-form pieces are both extremely interesting and, from your perspective, might channel/improve the conversation.
-
Folks would respond, of course, but they'd be engaging with themes/issues you've identified as being of present interest to you.

In fact, I do think the care/harm foundation is the ultimate one. The adjudicator which resolves the others. But I am talking abt *harm*
-
Not talking abt some1s feelings being hurt coz some1 else doesn't get their pronouns right/share their religion/approve their sexuality.
-
If we care abt ppl's feelings being hurt by someone else's ideas, we'd have to be consistent about this. This is impossible in practice.
-
It'd look like this: You hurt me by refusing to use my preferred pronouns. You hurt me by refusing to comply with my preferred gender roles
-
We couldn't get anywhere because no-one would ever be able to say anything or be themselves or live their lives.
-
And, in reality, ppl who argue that they should be protected from offense, don't argue that everyone should. Just ppl who think like them.
-
So, in reality, the groups who have greatest cultural capital get the right to have their feelings protected & everyone else can GTFO.
-
For a long time it was religion which had the right not to be offended & in many places it still is. For certain religions anyway.
