100%. I feel we've rewritten history to discount the power held by women, ironically in the name of empowering women.

Very much so. This is why I am so interested in the ways in which women negotiated autonomy & authority & had influence.

And they did this largely through narratives - using the discourses of their time to empower themselves coz good at it.
