You've not seen the constant nonsense abt women being abused online by mean words?
-
-
your anecdotal evidence is not enough to convince me that we don't need feminism.
-
Not suggesting it shld. Our anecdotes are just that. Fact that men have issues 2 suggests we need balanced activism
-
can you be specific about that, what does balanced activism look like? In practical terms?
-
We focus on issues that dealing with regardless of which sex is disadvantaged.
-
so how do we solve women's issues if we don't address the system they exist in?
-
We do. We don't have to pretend its a patriarchy or that it doesn't also disadvantage men to do this.

also, sorry you had to experience that. The person who said that clearly isn't a feminist, and is an asshole.
-
Is it not evidence of a toxic culture within feminism? Is it just that arseholes exist?
-
yes it's evidence of a toxic culture, but its patriarchy which promotes sexual violence.
-
Patriarchy is a system of power! Our system prosecutes sexual violence & even has a special register for it!
-
it's a wholly imperfect system, which often treats the victim worse than the criminal. Brock turner?
-
Oh, you can't show men are advantaged here. Women far more often avoid jail for sex crimes.
-
again, women far more likely to be the victim of those women too and the legal system is controlled by men!

I think the most vitriol I ever experienced was in a feminist discussion grp when I advocated 4 a (1)

free late night taxi scheme 4 women. Was told things like "how wd that hv prevented my being raped by my father when I was 5? (2
-
Accused of being a rape apologist & *just as bad* as a rapist. It's not victim blaming 2 acknowledge that there r measures (3)
-
which can keep us safer & it's OK 2 recommend/use them. I don't blame any1 4 bad health. But still advise eating veggies bcoz (4
-
statistically it prob saves *some* lives/prevents some illness. (5, END)
