You can't argue that the other person is not finding you emotionally hard work. Often leads to a tu quoque response & then all is lost.
'Emotional labour' could be a useful concept but so often its just used to make yourself a victim of something its very hard to contest.

Some ppl need more affection/reassurance than others. Occasionally, this is excessive. But otherwise, it's friendship
