I find it depends on which women and how reasonable they are being. But then I find myself reasonable & men receptive to it. Might be biasedhttps://twitter.com/Fashionopolis/status/810364137490497541 …

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that most men will listen more respectfully to men about women's issues than to women.

I sometimes wonder if pointing out that nagging is basically female mansplaining will actually work

I have an essay in progress about this! Historically women's speech has been associated with scolding & wittering pointlessly.

how much of this do you think is due to women having a naturally higher tone of voice?

Not much, tbh. More down to a genuine difference in communication styles & a desire to read one uncharitably.

I've definitely had to defuse situations where my wife had mistook my tone for being hostile towards her.

Yes. Helps to begin with 'I think' or 'I feel' or end with 'don't you think?' Still say exactly the same thing.

Whereas if I say to a man 'I think' he often thinks that I am unsure rather than that this is what I think.

yeah, I wonder how we alter a male's perception of "I think" when spoken by a woman as opposed to by a man.
