So, not that belief in God is irrational (the argument has been won anyway) it's that it doesn't 'work'?

Not sure how many ppl have applied reason to god-beliefs & rejected them on those grounds. Prob a minority.

Ppl seem mostly not to need god-beliefs so much when their social &psychological needs are met in other ways.

And western society has largely moved on the point where god-beliefs work or seem reasonable. Bit of an anomaly.

We don't think in the same way ppl who understood human sacrifice, eternal torture for wrongthink, miracles etc did.

Its a real effort to make, eg the Christian narrative, compatible with how we understand the world & morality today.
