Prince is having surgery on Thursday. He's begun to get very upset & anxious abt going into vets especially as another dog crying today.

I don't want to take him in early in the morning if they're going to stick him in a backroom for hours before they operate on him.

He used to be fine with this but he knows what's going to happen now. He'll be knocked out & wake up disorientated in pain with a cone on.

I live ten minutes up the road & can sit by phone & bring him in as soon as they're ready for him. No need for him to be alone & afraid.

If he's going to have to have a lot of these surgeries, our decision on how many to put him thru will depend on how traumatic it is for him

I will explain this to the vet & if unsympathetic, try to find another vet who will help me make it as easy for him as possible.

Also I will stock up on sausages. Obviously. Sausages can cure a lot of woes if you are a Labrador.

liver cancer, given the advanced stage I opted not to go for surgery and two days later took him in for euthanasia.

yeah outliving your dogs is the emotional difficulty of owning dogs. Been through this a few times, it doesn't get easier.
