Same with us. If an unknown mentally well man stared at you for 6 seconds, wouldn't you think him picking a fight?

dunno - I have been partially sighted since birth, so miss a lot of non-verbal communication.

I have been accused of staring at people I couldn't see. Not often but enough to persuade me to read up on body language a bit

See how deeply intuitive it is to us? We should assume a seemingly staring person cld have vision issues or learning disability.

But hackles rise instinctively. How many fights begin "What are you looking at?!"

Indeed! Have had a couple of scary moments, and also embarrassing moments when women accused me of staring.
